Galatians Part 3

 • Series: Galatians

Galatians 3:1-3 NLT: Oh, foolish Galatians! Who has cast an evil spell on you? For the meaning of Jesus Christ’s death was made as clear to you as if you had seen a picture of his death on the cross. Let me ask you this one question: Did you receive the Holy Spirit by obeying the law of Moses? Of course not! You received the Spirit because you believed the message you heard about Christ. How foolish can you be? After starting your new lives in the Spirit, why are you now trying to become perfect by your own human effort? Galatians 3:10 NIV: For all who rely on the works of the law are under a curse, as it is written: “Cursed is everyone who does not continue to do everything written in the Book of the Law.” James 2:10 NIV: For whoever keeps the whole law and yet stumbles at just one point is guilty of breaking all of it. * The Law couldn't  be obeyed. Galatians 3:19 NIV: Why, then, was the law given at all? It was added because of transgressions until the Seed to whom the promise referred had come. The law was given through angels and entrusted to a mediator. Galatians 3:24-25 NIV: So the law was our guardian until Christ came that we might be justified by faith. Now that this faith has come, we are no longer under a guardian. * The Law leads  us to Christ. Amazing Grace 1.  Grace is  a free gift. Romans 6:23 NIV: For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. 2.  Grace is  received by faith. Ephesians 2:8-9 NIV: For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast. Romans 4:16 NLT: So the promise is received by faith. It is given as a free gift. And we are all certain to receive it, whether or not we live according to the law of Moses, if we have faith like Abraham’s. For Abraham is the father of all who believe. 3.  Grace is  available to everyone. Romans 10:13 NIV: for, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” 4.  Grace comes only  through Christ. John 1:17 NIV: For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ. Romans 5:15 NLT: But there is a great difference between Adam’s sin and God’s gracious gift. For the sin of this one man, Adam, brought death to many. But even greater is God’s wonderful grace and his gift of forgiveness to many through this other man, Jesus Christ. Acts 4:12 NIV: Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.” 5.  Grace is extended  throughout eternity. John 3:16 NIV: For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. Titus 2:11-12 NIV: For the grace of God has appeared that offers salvation to all people. It teaches us to say “No” to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age.
